چکیده

The low energy dynamics of a certain D-brane configuration in string theory is described at weak t'Hooft coupling by a nonlocal version of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. We study this system at finite temperature and strong t'Hooft coupling, using the string theory dual. We show that for sufficiently low temperatures chiral symmetry is broken, while for temperatures larger then the critical value, it gets restored. We compute the latent heat and observe that the phase transition is of the first order.

Chiral Vortons and Cosmological Constraints on Particle Physics

We investigate the cosmological consequences of particle physics theories that admit stable loops of current-carrying string vortons. In particular, we consider chiral theories where a single fermion zero mode is excited in the string core, such as those arising in supersymmetric theories with a D-term. The resulting vortons formed in such theories are expected to be more stable than their non-...

Topological String Defect Formation During the Chiral Phase Transition

We argue for the existence of topological string defects in chiral sigma models. We discuss the formation of these strings during the chiral phase transitions in the early Universe and in the high energy heavy-ion collisions. Chiral symmetry as well as deconfinement are restored in the core of these defects. Formation of a dense network of string defects is likely to play an important role in t...

Role of Dual Higgs Mechanism in Chiral Phase Transition at Finite Temperature

The chiral phase transition at finite temperature is studied by using the Schwinger-Dyson equation in the dual Ginzburg-Landau theory, in which the dual Higgs mechanism plays an essential role on both the color confinement and the spontaneous chiral-symmetry breaking. At zero temperature, quark condensate is strongly correlated with the string tension, which is generated by QCD-monopole condens...

A DK Phase Transition in q-Deformed Yang-Mills on S and Topological Strings

We demonstate the existence of a large N phase transition with respect to the ’t Hooft coupling in q-deformed Yang-Mills theory on S2. The strong coupling phase is characterized by the formation of a clump of eigenvalues in the associated matrix model of the Douglas-Kazakov (DK) type [1]. By understanding this in terms of instanton contributions to the q-deformed Yang-Mills theory, we gain some...

Transversely-intersecting D-branes at finite temperature and chiral phase transition

We consider Sakai-Sugimoto like models consisting of Dq-Dp-Dp-branes where Nf flavor Dp and Dp-branes transversely intersect Nc color Dq-branes along two (r + 1)-dimensional subspaces. For some values of p and q, the theory of intersections dynamically breaks non-Abelian chiral symmetry which is holographically realized as a smooth connection of the flavor branes at some point in the bulk of th...
